My Mission: A Journey of Compassion& Giving Back

From volunteer to RN: My inspiration

My journey into healthcare began with volunteering on a healthcare mission trip and undertaking a teaching internship in Turkey and Iraq. At that time, I hadn't envisioned myself as a teacher, let alone a nurse. However, I knew deeply that whatever I pursued, it had to be meaningful and allow me to give back to vulnerable populations. These initial experiences profoundly shaped my resolve to become a Critical Care Registered Nurse, showing me the direct and impactful difference one person can make.

A moment in the operating room: Iraq

During my mission trip in Iraq, I had the profound opportunity to observe surgeries in the operating room for an entire month, while also assisting the nurses. I witnessed children, women, and injured individuals undergoing operations. The role nurses played in the operating room was truly impactful; they held patients' hands as they drifted to sleep and were there to greet them as they awoke. This provided immense trust and comfort, supporting them through some of the most challenging moments of their lives. This experience solidified my dedication to critical care.

My next mission: Gaza, Palestine

I am deeply committed to continuing my work with vulnerable communities. My next mission trip is planned for Gaza, Palestine, on September 8th, 2026. I hope to apply my growing skills as a critical care nurse to provide essential medical care, offer comfort, and contribute to healing in a region greatly in need. This trip is a vital step in my ongoing dedication to global health and service.
